Beginning therapy can be one of the most meaningful investments you make in your life. To support a smooth and sustainable process, it’s important to be clear about the time and financial commitment involved.

Initial Consultations

Before beginning longer-term work, we will meet for one or two initial consultations. These sessions offer us a chance to explore your reasons for seeking therapy, consider whether this approach feels right for you, and decide together whether we would like to continue. We will agree a regular time and day to meet if we decide to proceed. Find out more about an initial consultation with me here.

Session Fees

  • Individual therapy: £80 per 50-minute session
  • Couples therapy: £120 per 50-minute session

I do have some flexibility with fees in certain circumstances and we can discuss this during your initial consultation. Fees are reviewed annually.

I also offer a small number of low-cost, time-limited therapy spaces, as I aim to make psychotherapy accessible to a wide range of people.

Private Healthcare and Organisational Referrals

I am registered with AXA PPP Healthcare, Aviva, and Vitality. If your therapy is funded through private insurance or an organisation session fees may be slightly higher to cover administrative requirements. Insurance providers typically do not cover the cost of missed or cancelled sessions, and you will be responsible for these fees directly.

Cancellations, Missed Sessions and Holidays

Your regular appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. In line with standard psychodynamic and psychoanalytic practice, missed sessions and planned holidays are charged for, with the exception of times when I am away. If you are unable to attend, I will do my best to offer an alternative session in the same week, though this cannot always be guaranteed.

Ending Therapy

You are free to end therapy at any time. However, I ask for a minimum of four weeks’ notice so we can have the opportunity to reflect on the ending process together. Often, endings are planned and approached thoughtfully over a longer period as they are a meaningful part of the therapeutic work.
